World Health Organization
The AAOM is requesting feedback from its constituency on developing international standards of classification for East Asian Traditional Medicine within the ICD-10.

Legislative Update Ohio
On May 10, 2006, the Ohio State Senate Health Human Service and Aging Committee passed SB 246 (8-0), allowing chiropractors to perform acupuncture with only 300 hours of training.

Legislative Update Michigan
On February 23, 2006 the Michigan Governor signed SB 351 creating Acupuncture Registration. The bill passed 100% in the State Senate and 92% in the House of Representatives.

Legislative Update Kentucky
On April 10, 2006 the Kentucky Legislature passed HB 17 (95-0) creating Acupuncture Certification. The Governor signed the bill into law on April 24, 2006.

California Acupuncturists Comment on Their Training

A Tribute to Dr. Roger Hirsh
On May 17, 2006, Dr. Roger Hirsh forever left us. “He was riding a crane towards the Western Heaven to visit LaoZi, and Heaven kept him. The rivers and lakes, Heaven and Earth, alas for his death, mourned for his passing!”

Dr. Thomas Riihimaki Passes Away
Dr. Riihimaki died of cancer at his home in Cohasset, MA on May 26,2006 at the age of 61. Join us as we pause to give blessings and love to the transition of this humble man that gave so greatly to this profession and to those that shared his journey in life on this Earth.

Acupuncture for Hurricane Trauma Victims
Acupuncturists Without Borders recently announced that the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners enacted an emergency regulation to allow out-of-state licensed acupuncturists to again offer free trauma relief treatments to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
