AAAOM-SO: Your Organization for Change!

Greetings My Fellow Students!

It is a great honor to serve you as president of the AAAOM-SO, completing the term so well initiated by Jolene Habeck who was recently hired by the AAAOM. I officially took on this new challenge at our Student Organization Council (SOC) mid-year board meeting in September. It has been a great privilege to serve on the student board for the past 3 years and see the outstanding potential and growth of the students! As organizer of the 2009 Student Caucus at the National Conference and Expo in Sacramento, I understand first-hand how much the AAAOM Student Organization can do—from raising over $1200 for the AOM Political Action Fund, to having dozens of students volunteering at our political event Acupuncture Awareness Day. You are truly the fuel of our profession.

At the same time, I look at this momentous national debate about health care reform and how it is affecting all of us. I am so grateful that a strong organization like AAAOM can represent my voice in Washington, D.C. during these turbulent times and show us how we can collectively take part in the shaping of the health care landscape. Being an AOM practitioner isn’t business-as-usual anymore, and everyone needs to get involved.

What part are you going to take? Here are some ideas:

If you have any questions on how you, your school or your patients can get involved with promoting the profession of AOM, please contact me at kbenjamin@aaaomonline.org, or contact the AAAOM office at 866-455-7999.

Thank you for your devotion to the profession. I look forward to serving you!

In Health,

Kimberley Benjamin
